Ronix is the stronger fit for Mac users who want client-call recordings, file transcription, and dictation processed locally. Keep recordings and transcripts on your Mac, transcribe files you already have, and dictate offline after speech-model setup. Wispr Flow supports more devices, but Ronix fits work that needs to stay local on a Mac. Try the full app free for 14 days, with no credit card required.

Write across supported devices with speech cleanup, dictionary, snippets, and style controls. Features vary by platform.

Notetaker captures meetings without a bot and provides speaker-labeled transcripts, summaries, and next steps.
Saved audio and video
Import existing recordings and transcribe their audio locally. Some formats require FFmpeg.
No upload of existing audio or video for transcription. Granola and Otter transcript imports are a separate feature.
Meeting recordings
Recordings and transcripts remain in your local Mac library.
Notetaker transcripts are stored in Wispr’s private cloud. Temporary encrypted on-device audio is not intended for user playback or export.
AI summaries and connections
Optional summaries use your selected provider and API key. Claude MCP is also documented.
Notetaker generates cloud summaries and connects meeting notes to MCP-compatible AI tools.
Free use and paid plans
Built-in dictation is free forever. Full app: 14-day trial, then a $27 one-time license. AI-provider charges are separate.
Free plan with usage limits. Pro: $15/user/month, or $12/user/month billed annually. Unlimited dictation; Notetaker limits depend on plan.

Why Ronix is the stronger fit for your Mac workflow
When client calls fill your day, writing by voice is only part of the job. You also need to keep what was said, revisit decisions, and transcribe recordings that arrive between meetings. Ronix handles that work locally on your Mac.
• Keep a local recording and transcript of each client call, so you can check what was agreed before your next follow-up.
• Transcribe interviews, voice notes, and video files you already have. Wispr Flow does not accept existing audio or video files for transcription.
• Record, transcribe, and dictate offline after speech-model setup. Choose separately whether to use a cloud provider for summaries.
The tradeoff is device support. Wispr Flow also works on Windows and phones; Ronix requires a supported Mac. If your work happens on a Mac and you want local capture and transcription, start with Ronix’s 14-day trial.
Keep the call and its follow-up in one Mac app
Record the conversation, check the transcript, and dictate your follow-up. For consultants, founders, and solo practitioners, Ronix puts those jobs in the same Mac app, with imported-file transcription for the recordings you already have.
Keep the call, not just the notes
Record microphone and system audio without adding a bot to the call. Keep the recording and transcript in your local library, ready to check when a client asks about a decision.
Use the recordings you already have
Import an interview, voice note, podcast, or video and transcribe its audio locally. You do not need to play it into a live dictation tool. Supported formats and codec requirements still apply.
Dictate the follow-up in the same app
After checking the transcript, use Ronix’s built-in dictation to write into a Mac text field. Dictation is free forever, and local recognition works offline after model setup.

Keep client-call transcription on your Mac
Ronix keeps the core work on your Mac
Ronix records and transcribes on your Mac, so its core capture workflow does not require uploading the conversation for transcription. You decide separately whether to send transcripts to an AI provider for summaries. Provider terms and fees apply when you do.
Cloud controls do not make transcription local
Wispr says transcription always happens in the cloud. Model-training permission, dictation cloud storage, and context awareness are separate controls. Turning training off does not turn cloud transcription into on-device processing.
Get the required consent before recording, follow client confidentiality policies, and review provider terms before enabling cloud AI features.

Wispr Flow
Pro at $15/month
Free includes limited dictation and Notetaker access. The pricing table lists 2,000 words per week on desktop and 1,000 per week on mobile. Check the current allowance for your device.
Pro costs $15 per user per month, or $12 per user per month billed annually. That is $180 across 12 monthly payments or $144 for a year at the annual rate. Pro adds unlimited dictation, higher meeting limits, and longer Notetaker history.
At these paid rates, Ronix’s one-time app price is $117 less than one year of Wispr Pro billed annually. This compares app prices; features and optional AI costs differ.
Is Ronix right for your work?
Start your Ronix trial if
• You work on an Apple Silicon Mac and want client recordings and transcripts in a local library.
• You need to transcribe existing audio or video, as well as capture new calls.
• You want local dictation and transcription offline after setup, with optional AI-provider use handled separately.
Check these tradeoffs first
• Ronix is Mac-only. It does not replace Wispr Flow on Windows or phones.
• Wispr Flow offers dictionary, snippets, and style controls on supported platforms. Test the writing features you rely on before switching.
• Ronix’s cloud summaries use your chosen provider and API key, with separate charges. Wispr’s bundled notes and team controls differ.
Use the trial on a real day of work
Start Ronix’s 14-day trial on your Mac. With the required consent, record a call, transcribe one saved file, and dictate a follow-up. Check names, punctuation, and the editing you still need. That gives you a practical test of the work Ronix would replace.
Keep your original Wispr Flow archive. A one-click history import into Ronix has not been verified.
