Which Macs does Ronix support?

Which Macs does Ronix support?

Ronix runs on Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or later) with macOS 14.4 Sonoma or later.

It runs comfortably on a base M1 MacBook Air. Every M1, M2, M3 and M4 MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio and Mac Pro qualifies, as long as it’s updated to macOS 14.4 or newer.

Does Ronix work on Intel Macs?

Does Ronix work on Intel Macs?

Not yet. Ronix currently needs an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later), and Intel Mac support is on the way.

Ronix runs its speech models on your Mac, not in the cloud, and the current version relies on Apple Silicon to do that quickly. To check your Mac, open menu › About This Mac and look for “Chip: Apple M…”. If it says “Processor: Intel”, the current version won’t run on it.

Is there a Ronix app for Windows, iPhone or Android?

Is there a Ronix app for Windows, iPhone or Android?

Not yet. Ronix is available for Apple Silicon Macs today, and Windows, iPhone, Android and Intel Mac versions are on the way.

Right now, everything (recording, transcription, dictation and your files) stays on your Mac. There’s no web app.

Can Ronix record Microsoft Teams calls without a bot?

Can Ronix record Microsoft Teams calls without a bot?

Yes. Ronix records and transcribes Microsoft Teams calls on your Mac without adding a bot to the meeting.

Ronix captures your Mac’s system audio and your microphone at the same time, so both sides of the call are transcribed. No bot joins, and nobody sees an extra participant in the room. This works the same in the Teams desktop app and Teams in a browser.

Does Ronix work with Zoom?

Does Ronix work with Zoom?

Yes. Ronix records and transcribes Zoom calls on your Mac without a bot joining.

You don’t need a Zoom integration or host permission. Ronix listens through your Mac’s system audio and microphone, so it works on any Zoom plan, including free accounts.

Does Ronix work with Google Meet?

Does Ronix work with Google Meet?

Yes. Ronix records and transcribes Google Meet calls without adding a bot.

Meet runs in your browser, and Ronix captures the call audio from your Mac, so there’s nothing to install in Google Workspace and no admin approval to ask for.

Can Ronix record Slack huddles, WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord and FaceTime calls?

Can Ronix record Slack huddles, WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord and FaceTime calls?

Yes. Ronix records Slack huddles and WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord and FaceTime calls on your Mac, because it captures system audio rather than plugging into each app.

If a call plays through your Mac’s speakers or headphones, Ronix can record and transcribe it, webinar players included.

Does Ronix identify different speakers?

Does Ronix identify different speakers?

Ronix labels speech as [You] or [Speaker], separating you from everyone else on the call. It doesn’t yet tell several other participants apart or name them.

Labels are added in real time from your microphone versus system audio, and they carry through to the final transcript.

Do other people know I’m recording with Ronix?

Do other people know I’m recording with Ronix?

No bot or notification appears in the meeting, so let participants know yourself when you record.

Recording laws differ by country and state, and some require everyone’s consent. Ronix gives you a bot-free recording, but telling people and following your local laws is up to you.

Can Ronix transcribe YouTube videos?

Can Ronix transcribe YouTube videos?

Yes. Paste a YouTube link into Ronix and it transcribes the video on your Mac. It also accepts Instagram and TikTok links and podcast episode links.

There’s no length limit, so full lectures, long podcasts and multi-hour streams all work. Importing by URL needs an internet connection to fetch the audio. Transcription then runs locally, and the transcript lands in your library next to your meetings.

Which file formats can Ronix transcribe?

Which file formats can Ronix transcribe?

Ronix transcribes MP3, M4A, WAV, AAC, AIFF and FLAC audio, and MP4, MOV and WEBM video.

Dictation

Does Ronix dictation work in any app?

Does Ronix dictation work in any app?

Yes. Ronix dictates into whatever text field is focused on your Mac, including Slack, Mail, Notes, ChatGPT, Notion, Google Docs and Cursor.

Hold the Fn key, speak, and let go. Ronix transcribes on your device and pastes the text at your cursor. If you’d rather not hold the key, you can switch to toggle mode. Ronix needs Accessibility permission to paste text into other apps.

Does Ronix work offline?

Does Ronix work offline?

Yes. Once the models are downloaded, Ronix records, transcribes and dictates with no internet connection, whether you’re on a plane, in a basement or anywhere else.

Download the app and models before you go offline. Two things still need the internet: importing YouTube or other online videos by URL, and AI summaries from a cloud provider.

Where are my Ronix recordings and transcripts stored?

Where are my Ronix recordings and transcripts stored?

Everything stays on your Mac. Ronix doesn’t upload your audio, transcripts or dictation to its servers.

You organize recordings into folders nested up to three levels deep, and one recording can sit in several folders. Anonymous usage telemetry is on by default and can be turned off in Settings. It never includes recordings, transcripts, dictation or meeting content.

Is Ronix HIPAA, GDPR or SOC 2 compliant?

Is Ronix HIPAA, GDPR or SOC 2 compliant?

Ronix doesn’t claim HIPAA, GDPR or SOC 2 compliance. Its local-first design means your meeting audio and transcripts never reach Ronix servers, which can reduce how much sensitive data you share with third parties.

Compliance depends on your organization, your policies and any AI provider you choose. If you create an AI summary, only the transcript you select goes directly to your chosen provider, under that provider’s terms. Your audio stays on your Mac.

How do I connect Ronix to Claude with MCP?

How do I connect Ronix to Claude with MCP?

Ronix includes a Claude MCP connection, so Claude can search, summarize and analyze your meetings. You choose exactly which meetings Claude can see.

To set it up, open Ronix › Settings and follow the guided Claude MCP setup. It walks you through connecting your Claude account and choosing which meetings to share.

Once it’s connected, ask Claude things like “What did we agree on with Acme last week?” or “Summarize every client call in the Atlas folder.”

Can I use my own OpenAI or Anthropic API key for summaries?

Can I use my own OpenAI or Anthropic API key for summaries?

Yes. Ronix uses bring-your-own-key AI: add an OpenAI or Anthropic API key to generate summaries and chat with your transcripts.

Only the transcript you select is sent, straight to the provider you chose. Audio never leaves your Mac. You pay the provider directly for what you use, with no Ronix markup. Summary formats can be customized. Your API keys are stored in your macOS Keychain, not in plain files.
